Hello! I’m Lisa Abuaf Defcioglu, a highly motivated recent graduate from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where I earned a degree in Industrial Design with honors. With a strong passion for creating innovative designs for children, whether it be furniture or toys, I was honored to receive the Education and Play Design award from my department.
In addition to my focus on designing for kids, I have also cultivated a deep interest in furniture design, mainly in the realm of lighting. I have a particular interest in creating interactive designs that engage and captivate users. I believe that furniture can go beyond its functional purpose and become an interactive and immersive experience for both children and adults.
Furthermore, I possess expertise in soft goods, having successfully designed shoes and bags. By integrating elements such as playful features, hidden compartments or interactive parts, I aim to create designs that spark curiosity and encourage exploration. My experience at RISD, coupled with internships, has provided me with extensive knowledge and practical skills in these fields.
